Join us for games, activities and demonstrations of snowflake art and science.

David's presentation 1 to 3pm (space is limited so come early). Studio open for drop-in casual interactions, games and snow making 3 to 5pm.

This event features David Turner, a local scientist and father that loves bringing science and art together. (see his bio below)

This event is FREE (donations welcome).

Email us with questions: info@sciencelovesart.org

About David Turner:

David Turner was raised on a farm in western Wyoming. David's family regularly sung and crafted together, when the chores were done. While he is the least artistic person in a large family with high expectations, the love of art resides deeply within his analytical self. Well into his adulthood, David learned that, before his birth, his father left behind the pursuit of a Chemistry degree to return to farming. His family moved to Laramie when David was age 9 so his mother could get a master's degree in adult education. It could be said that art, science, and teaching are in his blood. While raising his children, David graduated from the University of Wyoming with a bachelors of science in chemistry. He enjoyed sharing his love of science through guest teaching several times a year at his children's elementary school in Laramie. Now his kids are older and those teaching opportunities are lost. He is overjoyed at the opportunity to share the joy, and art, and love of science with children again.

Bottoms Up! Paint Pouring
Oct

6:00 PM18:00

Bottoms Up! Paint Pouring

Next up for acrylic paint pouring is “Bottoms Up!” You will explore the movement of your paint color choices over the base of a plastic pop/water bottle. The ‘flower’ shaped bottle base helps create paintings with very unique, abstract designs.

To help make this pour special you will have the option to design onto an old record album! Yes! Dancing to the oldies never looked so good! Or you might prefer to use a square canvas. Watch the demonstration then you decide. We will also be doing a short exercise in using string to create abstract shapes with paint pour. If this class sounds like one that you would like to attend, don't miss out because space will be limited.

Walk away with two 4X4” canvases, one 8X8” canvas, and one groovy vintage record! (great for gifts or to light up any room in your home.)

Lead by Patty Hansen. (BYOB!)

*Class caps at 12 students. $25 per student. All materials included. Cards and cash accepted. (Cash must be dropped off at least 24 hours in advance of class to reserve your spot.)

Alcohol Ink

Alcohol Ink

Using alcohol inks can be a fun way to use colors and create backgrounds for stamping or cardmaking. You can also use alcohol inks in painting and to add color to different surfaces such as glass and metals. Alcohol inks are an acid-free, highly-pigmented, and fast drying medium to be used on non-porous surfaces. Mixing colors can create a vibrant marbled effect and the possibilities can only be limited by what you are willing to try.

Join us to experiment with this microbe inspired technique and leave class with 3 handmade cards and a piece of decorative glass. All materials included!

*Class caps at 12 students. $25 per student. Cards and cash accepted. (Cash must be dropped off at least 24 hours in advance of class to reserve your spot.)
